Description
Early
defibrillation is swiftly becoming a common life-saving
intervention
with strong, documented success when coupled with CPR. This
three-hour
course is designed to meet the needs of the general public, first
responders,
and professionals who have access and authority to operate an automated
external defibrillator (AED). This training
satisfies the
requirements
for both certified First Responders and other rescuers who will operate
an AED under NJ's Targeted Responder Defibrillation Act (public access
defibrillation law). This course is NOT sufficient for NJ
EMT-Basics
who need initial or renewal training on AED use. This course
does
NOT authorize AED operation in a rescue situation--it provides the
training
to students who will be otherwise authorized to do so. Topics
include:
Prerequisites
There are no formal
prerequisites. Students
should
come prepared to practice the various rescue techniques on
fellow
students
and/or a training manikin. Your student manual contains a CD-ROM which
you may find helpful to review prior to class. You'll need a
Windows-based PC with CD-ROM capability to watch the student CD.
The appropriate audience includes rescuers who will be functioning as part of an organized response plan using an AED prescribed or authorized by a physician.
