Pediatric Trauma Program Offerings

The Kiwanis
Pediatric Trauma Program at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital
offers programs to the emergency medical services community in New Jersey.
-
Several pediatric continuing education programs are partially
funded by the KPTP and are
available to all levels of EMS responders. The following is a list
of programs currently available:
-
Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals (PEPP):
-
Basic and Advanced
provider classes are available.
-
KPTP has been charged with helping disseminate PEPP across
the state, continuing its pioneering role in making pediatric continuing
education available to emergency workers. Our approach is to offer
opportunities to individuals representing training locations in all NJ
counties so that each region is covered. KPTP was the first to offer
the PEPP-Basic Provider Course and is committed to leading the effort to
improve pediatric emergency care. KPTP sponsored a rollout for ALS
providers who would like to be PEPP Coordinators for their training site.
-
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
-
Neonatal Resuscitation Program
-
APLS: The Pediatric Emergency Medicine Course
-
The KPTP also offers injury prevention education. Programs
such as "How 911 Works," "ThinkFirst
for Kids" & "ThinkFirst for Teens," "Bicycle Safety," and EMS orientation
programs for all ages are offered throughout New Jersey.
-
1997 also saw the production of a video designed to aid EMT-B
instructors in teaching new EMT-Bs entitled "Special Kids--Special
Needs." This video is available at production and mailing cost by
contacting
us.
-
A separate web site is in development at http://www.rwjuh.edu/traumallama
for kids, parents, teachers, and other professionals.
-
The KPTP has provided educational programs across the state.
Off-site programs have been offered from Warren County to Cape May.
