Prehospital Management of
Traumatic Brain Injury

Our offering of this program has been approved by the NJ
Department of Health and
Senior Services Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS) for
3.0
elective NJ EMT-Basic CEUs. The National Registry of EMTs
accepts NJ EMT CEUs on a one-for-one basis. Continuing education
credit for NJ MICU personnel is awarded through their respective
clinical coordinator/EMS educator.
Description
This program was developed by the Brain Trauma Foundation (BTF) to
inform EMS providers on the optimal management of traumatic
brain-injured patients in the prehospital environment. They are
based on the Guidelines for
Prehospital Management of Traumatic Brain Injury created by the
BTF under a grant from the National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration. The program employs video presentations, lecture,
cases, and interactive activities. More information is available

Prerequisites
Intended participants are EMS providers familiar with providing
care in the prehospital environment. This offering is aimed at
the EMT-Basic level.
